This was posted back in October of 09, but it tends to resurface from time to time, on sites like mine. Take a minute to watch this, 5 minutes and 50 seconds to be exact. With Apple leading the way in both music distribution, forward thinking technology, creative marketing and advertising this is inside look at the how’s and why’s of their computer conceptions.
Hawaii has become the first state to pass a law requiring all new homes built to have solar-powered water heating systems installed.
This will help offset the fact that Hawaii is the highest fossil fuel reliant state with 90%, yes, 90% of its energy sources coming from foreign countries.
Last year at this time I was getting ready to complete the first leg of my ‘Around the United States without an airplane & without ownership of a car’ trek (title is still a work in progress). What a year it was and each new day presents me with another opportunity to pursue everything that I love.
As I pursue some of my next ventures, both in an office and online I want to share some pictures that I have yet to post on the site. 2009 was amazing and 2010 is shaping up to be even better.
For those who are not social networking, or using the internet to its capacity – You should be – Networks such as facebook, couchsurfing, triphopper, craigslist, myspace and twitter all helped at one point or another and enabled me to maintain my tight budget along the way.
Keep an open mind and set some goals. Anything you want to work, will.

Someone should make a list of the Top 10 year-end lists…That someone will NOT be me, but while you think about how great of an idea that is, take a minute to read through this ONE – for those who are afraid to click that link it is simply a listing of the 50 Most Influential People In Sports (2009) as reported by the Sports Business Journal.
Interesting fact: Only one women on that list (#46) and no current athletes.
BEST NEW ARTIST
There are some great new bands that I feel have been out longer than an allowable time to still be called “new”, but that is how it goes with this category.
MGMT – One of my favorites and I am still running to the bus listening to Electric Feel. It just never gets old.
Zac Brown Band – I went to school with a guy named Zac Brown. This is not his band. This is not their year for a Grammy.
Silversun Pick-ups – I like them – A lot of references to a pretty popular group from the 90″s in the press. nod noted.
The Ting Tings – I hope they pull a Kanye and go on stage singing a spoof titled “That’s Not My Grammy”.
Keri Hilson – Maybe.
MGMT will get a lot of love from the industry, so will Taylor Swift, she is all over the screens. Silversun would of won if it was last year and The Ting Tings, in my eyes will not be able to come home with the gold. Keri Hilson. Maybe. Adele won last year, so I am going to say tight race, between MGMT and Taylor.
If MGMT does pull it off, there should be a parade in Brooklyn.
“David Pimentel, a professor of ecology and agricultural science at Cornell University, has estimated that if all humanity ate the way Americans eat, we would exhaust all known fossil fuel reserves in just seven years.”
Go ahead. READ THIS ARTICLE. It might change the way you eat and that simply, could change the world.
What do the following people and myself all have in common?
We were all guests on the Jimmy Fallon show on Monday night here in New York City. I am going to take this opportunity to plug them all…
Martha clearly a crook, but an outstanding cook and personality. Jeffrey Ross has mastered the art of being a jerk and getting paid for it, while Julian Casablanca left his band and went solo, now covering Christmas songs and doing it well.
So we have a crook, a jerk and a cover artist. All great success’ – so much for role models.
That aside, I love Martha’s cooking, I love roasting my friends and the new J. Casablanca CD is in regular rotation on my ipod. Jeffrey Ross is hilarious and people who are good at what they do are where they are for good reason.
Fallon is worth hitting the snooze button for in the morning.
Sure, it is expensive, but why would you not want to pre-order some of the greatest music this generation has seen? Jack White is a genius and he continues to marvel us all with this upcoming set. More than just a box set. This is a god like collection containing a double 180 double gram vinyl, 208 page hardcover book, CD/DVD Slipcase, Folder & Booklet, CD & DVD a piece of re 7 inch vinyl…I love 7 inch vinyl!, 1 of 6 silkscreened prints and all housed in a overbox.
Skip the gym pass this year and do what is right. Pre-order this box set.
FYI – My birthday is January 10th and this would make a great gift.
Let’s talk Grammy Nominations for a second
Record of the year
Halo – Beyoncé
I Gotta Feeling – The Black Eyed Peas
Use Somebody – Kings Of Leon
Poker Face – Lady Gaga
You Belong With Me – Taylor Swift
I am rooting for Kings of Leon, realistically, I have to say that I think Taylor Swift will go big , while Lady Gaga will just go home,
but remember I like them ba ba ba both. Have you seen the video for the Weezer cover of this track?
Black Eyed Peas stand a chance though, but I am not seeing Beyonce coming out on top here. Sorry B, or is it Sasha?
Album of the Year is another good one. Except I am not sure why they did not pick anything Jack White has done.
He should get his own category. Best Jack White Band. Best jack White Haircut. Best Jack White Outfit. Okay, so yeah…Album of the Year.
I Am… Sasha Fierce – Beyoncé
The E.N.D. – The Black Eyed Peas
The Fame – Lady Gaga
Big Whiskey And The Groogrux King – Dave Matthews Band
Fearless – Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift versus Lady Gaga – They should just get to it and do a good ol fashion quick draw. With iphones.
I asked my FACEBOOK readers what their favorite albums and songs of the year were and I received a wide range of things;
in no particular order
Toss up of Peppers’ Kona Gold and Les Clapools’ Fungi & Foe, Maybe a new album from Slightly Stoopid in’10 eh?
Mine for 2009 is fleet foxes and most anticipated is arcade fire…i think they have a release scheduled for May.
The XX – The XX was pretty solid. Kid Cudi – Man on the Moon and Raekwon – Only Built for Cuban Linx on the hip hop side.
Album: ‘Beggars’ by Thrice or Them Crooked Vultures
Definitely ‘Dear Agony’ by Breaking Benjamin
Katatonia – Night is the New Day…..flat out awesome
Not to sound like a company dork but Ike Reilly’s “Hard Luck Stories” is definitely my fave this year.
The Dead Weather – Horehound
Micheal Franti and Spearhead latest say yeah
and then someone posted: just can’t stay away from the music can ya? miss you!
They are right. Post your fav’s in the replies and don’t forget to check out Official Song Of The Day
